Welcome to la Howarderie

Dear visitors, welcome to our website. La Howarderie is a farm characterized by its original architecture that is situated in a region marked by its history of the Great War and green environment.

La Howarderie offers a restaurant, two party rooms and two different vacation houses, the accommodations ‘Le Fenil’ and ‘La Prairie’, for individuals or groups up to 50 people. They are both situated at the same address.

The green environment, the river ‘La Lys’, the farm, fields and grazing land are features of the surrounding landscape of the accommodation and offer remarkable views. It’s a great place to stay with a group of friends, school groups, organizations, sports clubs, tourists, the whole family and is even suitable for business trips.

La Howarderie is situated on the border between Belgium and France, so it’s only a 25 minute drive from Lille (France), Kortrijk or Ypres; a 10 minute drive to Comines and Mesen; a 5 minute drive to Ploegsteert or Armentières; a one hour drive from Bruges; an hour and a half to Brussels or Antwerp.

The surrounding region consists of villages as Ploegsteert, Warneton, Ypres, Heuvelland, Mesen, … who are marked by the war, they shelter a lot of memories and cemeteries of the First World War (1914-1918). You can visit and see memorials, graveyards and museums (for example: In Flanders Fields in Ypres about the Great War).

Last Post every day in Ypres at 8 p.m. at the Menin Gate and every first Friday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Memorial of Ploegsteert.
